Bologna’s Arnautovic discusses rapport with Mourinho ahead of Roma clash

Bologna attacker Marko Arnautovic was asked to share his memories from the time he worked together with Jose Mourinho at Inter ahead of Wednesday’s Serie A engagement with Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

“When I think about it, I see the fun it, but then if I really think about it, not everything was fun because Mourinho imposed a lot of discipline on me,” Arnautovic told the official Serie A website.

“I was hotheaded back then, and did things my own way. At the time we were supposed to play a friendly in Riyadh, I was late three times in one day and Mourinho put me out of the squad. He didn’t let me play that game and on my return to Italy we had to face Genoa, so I showed up 3/4 hours earlier at Inter’s training facilities because I thought we had training in the morning, but in reality it had been set for the afternoon. To teach me a lesson, Mourinho gave me his watch. I still remember it.”

“We still keep in touch and meet whenever we can. I have great respect for him,” he added.

“Roma? I know the stadium will be full and I really admire the Giallorossi fans. I respect them, they are always there for their team. Rome has a lot of quality.”
