Bologna defender and former Roma player Riccardo Calafiori previewed the upcoming match with the Giallorossi.

The two teams will face each other on the weekend. This will mark Calafiori’s first time as an opponent of his former club since joining Bologna from Basel in the summer.

In an interview with Corriere dello Sport, Calafiori remarked, “This match with Roma is fundamental because, inevitably, it is a direct clash between two teams that aspire to similar objectives.”

“Roma? I don’t deny the past, but I have to prepare for it like a match like any other.”

On Lukaku and Dybala both missing out on the game, Calafiori said, “These are important absences, we cannot deny it. Nothing changes for me. Of course, playing against Lukaku is another thing. It really changes the game. But if Roma is focused, like us, they have an important team, they are among the top clubs in Italy.”

“Mourinho helped me a lot. He is very strong. He made me improve mentally. He was also fundamental for my growth. Last year he often wrote to me after the matches. Even in Basel. He recognizes whether you’re doing well or not, he’s not afraid to tell you to your face.”
