Boniek: “If Roma beat Samp, they would still be in the Scudetto race.”

John Solano

Former Roma and Juve midfielder Zibì Boniek, appeared on the radio program “La Signora in Giallorosso” on Tele Radio Stereo. These are his words:

Why did you write on Twitter that Roma will not win the Scudetto?
Because I saw an interesting, balanced match that showed certain things. Roma play too predictably and slowly against the big teams, they need to speed things up in midfield. The manager even said so, they need to speed up their movements. With De Rossi and Strootman playing at the same speed, it is difficult to do that.

Is Schick a strong player or a potential star?
I tried to evaluate this on the matches played entirely by Schick but there are few. He’s a front-page player, a lot of money was paid for him and I think he has something extraordinary. I’m still thinking about what his role should be, because he needs space, his best position right now is at right winger.

The ideal formation for Roma?
The defence is untouchable, with Manolas and Fazio as central defenders, Kolarov and Florenzi as the fullbacks. The problems start in midfield, where there is certainly Nainggolan, then there’s the two wide attackers, sometimes Perotti is better, other times it is El Shaarawy. The manager has to decide, there is more to do. Should Roma beat Samp, they would still be in the race for the Scudetto.

Are the legs trembling for Schick?
I do not think he has time to think about it, if an opportunity presents itself, you have to take it. Yesterday he showed he’s able to score goals but he isn’t a guy who lives in the penalty area, to avoid problems, he has to take the ball on the right.
