Mayoral’s goal on Thursday night against CSKA Sofia has the potential of turning things around for the Spaniard who has been linked with an exit from the Italian capital ever since The Special One’s appointment at Roma.

According to Corriere della Sera, Mourinho was extremely pleased with the duo Mayoral-Abraham, and liked what he saw from the Spanish striker: the 24-year-old is able to hold up the ball and allow Abraham to attack the space in front of him.

According to the Italian newspaper, Mayoral now has a real chance of starting for the second consecutive time against Thiago Motta’s Spezia.

Given that the team from the Liguria region will clog up most passing lanes in their own half, Mayoral could help open up the opponent’s defense, letting Abraham get behind the opponent with his pace and strength.

For the attack, Mourinho will also be able to choose from Shomurodov and Felix who recently tested negative for COVID and returned to group training ahead of Monday’s fixture. Zaniolo is out due to suspension.
