Borja Mayoral’s future remains uncertain

It is no secret that Borja Mayoral and his entourage have been looking to move on from the Italian capital for some time now. The Spanish striker’s limited playing time under Mourinho pointed to an early exit from Roma for the club’s leading goal-scorer in last year’s campaign.

However, according to Il Tempo, Mourinho’s positive impression of Mayoral’s performance vs CSKA Sofia that helped the Giallorossi get top spot in the Conference League group-stage, may have an impact on the Spaniard’s future.

The newspaper reports that the 24-year-old has a concrete chance of starting his second consecutive game on Monday vs Spezia.

The player, who has been in talks with Fiorentina for a potential move, may all of a sudden play a more prominent role for the Giallorossi in the coming weeks.

With the likes of El Shaarawy and Pellegrini out until January, Zaniolo absent due to suspension and an out-of-form Eldor Shomurodov, Mayoral could catapult himself at the center of Roma’s offensive line.

The Spaniard’s future remains uncertain, but the upcoming stretch of the season could play a pivotal role in Mayoral’s decision.
