We may be seeing the best version of Roger Ibañez so far in this campaign. Jose Mourinho is a big fan of the 23-year-old centre-back and values his strength as well as his versatility and dedication to cover multiple positions in the defense if called upon.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Ibañez’s convincing start to this season has impressed both Roberto Mancini and Tite. Both managers are considering the Roma defender for future national team call-ups.
The player was close to being called up by Mancini earlier in September, but ultimately did not make the cut.
Now Brazil are reportedly pushing for the 23-year-old having already invited him for the Tokyo Olympics which he declined in order to work with Mourinho in preseason.
There is reportedly great chemistry between The Special One and Ibañez as the Portuguese technician believes the defender to be a point of reference for the Giallorossi for years to come.
