Brescia president Massimo Cellino spoke to Corriere dello Sport today and weighed-in on the debate that is being had throughout Italian football.

Due to the Coronavirus crisis, many want the 2019/2020 campaign to be vacated while others, notably Lazio, want the season to restart right where it left off when play was halted earlier this month.

“The suspension of football is essential,” said the former Leeds United owner.

“All I’ll say is that this season is over, it’s gone. Let’s hope we‘re able to play next season — it’d be a good thing”.

The various bodies of Italian football are set to meet over the course of the next few days to listen to feedback from clubs on what the next steps should be for all of the professional and amateur leagues throughout the country.
