Ahead of Thursday’s return leg, Brighton midfielder Jakub Moder maintained his side haven’t lost belief in Europa League progression over Roma.
Despite falling 4-0 last week in the Italian capital last week, the Polish international believes the Seagulls are capable of overturning the deficit following their weekend victory over Nottingham Forest.
“It was a very important win [against Forest],” he told Brighton’s official website. “I think we deserved it and that’s very important, especially after last Thursday.”
“It’s obviously going to be a very difficult night for us [on Thursday], especially after the 4-0 defeat in Rome. But we have to believe that we can score four goals. As Roma scored four goals, we can also score four goals. So we keep that belief and we go on Thursday and try to win 4-0.”
He continued, “We created chances [in the first leg]. Danny Welbeck had two chances, great saves from the Roma keeper, and we also could have defended a couple of goals [better].”
“So we just have to improve a couple of things and obviously we showed before that we can score many goals against big teams like Man United, Tottenham, Liverpool. So we can do it against Roma.”
