Legendary Roma captain and member of the club’s Hall of Fame, Bruno Conti, will be leading the team on Sunday.
In light of Mourinho and Salvatore Foti’s suspension, the Special One has decided to rely on Conti as the leading assistant on the pitch in Roma’s first matchday of the season with Salernitana.
Conti – who currently acts as the club’s technical coordinator of the youth sector – confirmed this news in an interview with the club.
“It’s a huge emotion for me. The coach is obviously Mourinho and in light of his suspension Stefano Rapetti will be his voice on the pitch: I was asked to come in and provide support on the pitch and I can’t wait to be able to give my contribution.”
“I know that Sunday there will be yet another sold out at the Stadio Olimpico, for my part I hope to be able to bring even more enthusiasm, at a time when the bench will have to endure several absences, above all that of José.”
“First of all, I would like to publicly thank him for the opportunity he has given me. I’ll do my best to be of help. I also thank the coaching staff for the way they welcomed me. I would like to personally thank the Friedkin family who lead this club: when Roma call, it’s impossible not to answer. Feeling our fans behind me I already know it will be beautiful.”
