Roma legend Bruno Conti, responsible for the capital club’s youth sector, recently spoke to Sky Sport on Italy’s growing new generation of footballers in light of the national team’s failure to reach the World Cup for the second consecutive time.
“We need to start re-discovering the youth programs. Today there is too much exasperation when it comes to the most youth sectors, there is not enough focus.”
“Mourinho this year threw the likes of Zalewski and Bove into the mix. Italy need to have this kind of courage.”
“[Italy coach] Roberto Mancini knows what he’s doing, we have guys like Tonali who already have many Serie A matches under their belt, and it is the right thing to do to renew the national team and think about the future.”
