Bruno Conti reflects on De Rossi’s career from Roma player to head coach

Andy Mattioli

Legendary Roma captain Bruno Conti shared a lengthy interview with Corriere della Sera.

Among the various topics he discussed, Conti reflected on Daniele De Rossi’s transition from player to head coach.

“For me, Daniele has always been a coach on the pitch, for his tactical intelligence and for the choices he made: when I saw Ancelotti on the pitch I had the same feeling.”

‘More importantly, De Rossi is a great man, a good person, never banal: he took over the team at a delicate moment and is proving to be a true coach, prepared in everything. I’m very happy for him.”

“When we talk about De Rossi we talk about a great man first, not only a footballing phenomenon. He’s the kind of person we need in today’s world of football.”

“I remember his early years at the club: we signed him as a striker, then he was moved to midfield and he became great. This is also why seeing him on the Roma bench today is special.”
