Bruno Peres likely to remain at Roma, also tests positive for COVID

John Solano

RomaPress – Roma wingback Bruno Peres announced earlier today that he has tested positive for COVID-19, just one day after Roma attacker Carles Pèrez announced his positive test.

Despite the illness, the Brazilian appears that, as of today, he is going to remain with the Giallorossi for the upcoming season.

Members of Peres’ entourage have confirmed to RomaPress that they have yet to meet with Roma’s hierarchy and that they have not received any signal from the club that they want to sell the player, who has only one year left on his contract.

Roma manager Paulo Fonseca utilised the Brazilian heavily upon his return to the club in January and he would prefer to keep him for the 2020/2021 season — especially given that Alessandro Florenzi and Davide Santon are likely to depart the club.

It is even possible that the former Torino man could sign a new contract with Roma: the defender would prefer to remain in the Italian capital as he feels very tied to the club.
