Roma midfielder Bryan Cristante was glad after his side began the new year with a win after they defeated Bologna 1-0 this evening in the Italian capital. The Italian international admitted that the team have still ways to improve throughout the remainder of the season.
Captain Lorenzo Pellegrini’s penalty goal early in the first half was enough to secure all three points for the Giallorossi, who face a huge showdown on Sunday evening versus Milan.
“It was very important to win tonight,” Cristante told Roma TV. “After the break there really wasn’t any other way to begin this new year other than to win tonight.”
“The major problem for all teams is that nobody knew the opponent’s level of fitness after the international break. Fortunately we were focused from the very beginning, and I think we’re ready for the second half of the season.”
“We need to get back to our best form as soon as possible, we have a lot of games ahead of us.”
