Bryan Cristante was sorely missed in Sunday’s defeat to Sassuolo which saw the Giallorossi concede four goals at the Stadio Olimpico.
Edoardo Bove and Gini Wijnaldum seemed unable to compensate for Cristante’s physicality and interceptions in the middle of the pitch and in front of the team’s backline.
As reported by Italian journalist Francesco Balzani, Cristante is considered indispensable by Jose Mourinho who has played a pivotal role in the midfielder’s renewal.
In fact, Cristante is expected a new long-term deal at the end of the season until 2027 worth €3 million.
