Cagliari are pondering the possibility of signing on a permanent basis Roma striker Eldor Shomurodov.

The Uzbekistan international spent his second consecutive loan spell away from the Italian capital.

Excluded from the team in January 2023, Shomurodov first moved to Spezia before joining Cagliar in the summer window of last year.

The loan spell was not entirely successful with Shomurodov finding continuity only in the final months of the season and concluding this campaign with just 3 goals in 22 appearances.

Now, the player could potentially extend his stay in Sardinia although Cagliari remain hesitant to activate Roma’s original buy option included in the loan deal.

According to Calcio Casteddu, Cagliari have asked Roma for a discount.

The Sardinian club are unwilling to meet the €9 million buy option Roma set a year ago before sending Shomurodov out on loan.

Cagliari are also aware of Parma’s interest in the ex-Genoa man and therefore are hoping to meet with Roma and renegotiate the deal.
