Cagliari sporting director Stefano Capozucca revealed that Roma made a late push to acquire versatile midfielder Nahitan Nández.
It was no secret that the Giallorossi were desperate to purchase a defensively-minded midfielder before the end of the transfer market. But after holding discussions for multiple players, the capital club couldn’t manage to finalise a deal before the close of the window.
After pushing the entire summer for an exit, the 25 year-old Nández ultimately remained at the club despite approaches from Roma, Inter, and Napoli.
“Nahitan had requests from other clubs, the last attempt from Napoli was for a loan worth €1 million, but Cagliari could not accept these offers,” he said to L’unione Sarda. “Whoever wants him must pay the correct value.”
He added, “Is Nahitan nervous? It must be realised that everyone has the ambition to improve. He had meetings with the likes of Tottenham, Inter, Napoli, and Roma—so it’s normal he thought about leaving.”
“He lost his cool a bit but he is a spectacular guy and will always give the best.”
