With just a few days left before Roma kicks off their 2024/25 season against Cagliari, the latter has announced the signing of veteran free agent José Luis Palomino.
The former Atalanta defender has agreed to a one-year contract with the Sardinians, running until June 30, 2025, with an option for an additional season. However, he is unlikely to feature in Sunday evening’s match against the Giallorossi.
Palomino joins Cagliari following the expiration of his contract with La Dea in June—ending his seven-year tenure at the club. Following a bright start in Bergamo, the 34 year-old has struggled with injuries in recent seasons.
He made only 6 appearances in 2023/24 due to a persistent hamstring injury that sidelined him for five months. Meanwhile, he missed almost 40 total games over the previous two years.
Palomino’s stint with Atalanta ended with 225 appearances, 9 goals, and 5 assists.
