After completing a move from Barça to Roma in January 2020, Carles Pérez failed to impress for the most part and more importantly, failed to impose himself as a valid alternative to 33-year-old Pedro and 32-year-old Mkhitaryan. Only 5 goals and 4 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions for the 23-year-old winger. However, an exit is quite unlikely to take place in this transfer window.
According Corriere dello Sport, Pérez has impressed Mourinho at the start of preseason training and the manager is satisfied with the effort the youngster has shown both in training as well as the two friendlies against Montecatini and Ternana: 3 goals in two games for the Spaniard who now hopes to find a place in the starting line-up.
Both Pinto as well as Mourinho made it clear to Pérez that he fits their plans. The Special One knows that a lot of work must be done in order for the Spaniard to take the next step and become an important player for the club. However, all signs point to Pérez playing a role in Roma’s upcoming campaign.
