Castan: “I wanted to stay.”

Roma defender Leandro Castan, who is spending this season on a dry loan at Samp, spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport and admitted that he didn’t want to leave Roma, however, he wasn’t in the plans of Luciano Spalletti:

“Roma? I wanted to remain, but Sabatini told me I wasn’t in Spalletti’s plans. I accepted this and hoped Spalletti was making the right choice. Now, my mind is only on Sampdoria, however, before I saluted Roma, they renewed my contract: I can only thank them.”

Regarding the renewal, Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that the Brazilian will sign a new contract with Roma which will extend his time in the capital to 2019.
