Cengiz Ünder speaks about his time in the capital: “Roma helped launch my career.”

Following his move to Olympique de Marseille on loan with an obligation to buy at €8 million, Cengiz Ünder released his first official interview as a Marseille player. The winger, after four years with Roma and a season spent on loan at Leicester, parts ways with the Roman club with a tally of 88 appearances in all competitions.

“Roma helped launch my career in Europe,” the Turkish international said in his first interview for the French giants.

“It was a very important and formative experience for me. It helped me grow tactically. In Italy, you work on tactics all week long. England in terms of quality is much harder.”

He concluded, sharing his thoughts on his new club:

“Marseille is a great European club, with a great history. I’m very attracted to the club’s project. I feel the president and the manager’s confidence in me. We immediately spoke of football and came to an understanding. Both the president and the coach played a big part in me coming here.”
