Newly acquired Turkish defender Mert Çetin was interviewed today by DHA.com.tr and discussed his recent move to Roma. These are his words:

“I’ve been welcomed very well by Roma: both the manager and sporting director, Petrachi, have confidence in my qualities. My objective is to fight for the Roma shirt for a long time. I’ll do my best to represent my country, my family and the Gençlerbirliği community. I want to thank all of Turkey. I hope to show everyone what I am”.

“The move to Roma came about quickly. I told my former club to only come to me if there were serious offers because I wanted to respect my team and my performance. Then in the morning, I woke up and the club called me and said, ‘We need to meet, come in’. Then I went to the headquarters and Roma’s representatives were there. I met with them and we reached an agreement: by the afternoon I flew to Rome. It all happened so fast”.

“Ünder has helped: I spoke to him before joining and he gave me all the details about the city and the supporters. He told me that he was happy there and that Roma is a great group. I believe many more Turks will come to Italy”.
