With the transfer window winding to an end over the next week, rumours have picked up regarding Nicolò Zaniolo’s stay in the Italian capital.
The young attacker’s entourage are set to meet with Roma to further discuss a contract renewal for the 23-year-old.
Yet, despite this development in Roma’s favour, La Repubblica reports that Chelsea have entered the race for Zaniolo.
The other two clubs interested in the ex-Inter man, Juventus and Tottenham, gave up the pursuit weeks ago. The only offer presented to Roma – Spurs’ €28 million plus either Tanguy Ndombele (now at Napoli) or Japhet Tanganga – was promptly turned down by the capital club.
Chelsea’s chances of landing Zaniolo in these final days of the transfer window are slim given the difficulties in replacing such an important player for José Mourinho.
