Former Roma midfielder Gerson is being linked with a big-money return to Europe, just one year after having left the Giallorossi to return to Brazil.
Globoesporte has reported that Chelsea are interested in the midfielder and are ready to present a substantial offer to Flamengo for his services.
Reportedly, the Blues are willing to offer €35 million for the 23 year-old, whose contract runs with the club until 2023.
Any move for Gerson would be of interest to Roma because they are entitled to 10% of the transfer fee in excess of €11.8 million, which is the sum Flamengo paid for the player last summer.
After having flopped in the Italian capital, Gerson did well last season while on loan with Fiorentina, however, La Viola did not make the move permanent. The youngster ultimately ended up returning to his homeland with the Rio de Janeiro side and has rebounded nicely after his difficulties in Europe.
