Current Chelsea and former Roma left back Emerson Palmieri spoke at a press conference today while on duty with the Italian national team as they prepare to face Poland on Sunday in the Nations League.
With the January transfer market approaching, the 26 year-old addressed his club future as he finds him essentially frozen out of the English side by Blues boss Frank Lampard. The Brazil-born defender has been heavily linked with a return to Italy as Juventus, Inter, and the Giallorossi have expressed their interest in his services.
“Roma? I have huge affection for the club, everyone knows that. The team is doing well but I think discussing the Scudetto is tough,” said Emerson.
“My situation at Chelsea? I’m staying calm, I’ve received interest and not just from Italy — though, certainly I’d be happy to return to Serie A. I don’t know if it will happen in January or in five years, I can’t say because everything happens so quickly in football.”
