Roma are getting desperate in trying to find a a suitor for Chris Smalling.
The English defender has been included in Roma’s transfer list as he does not fit the club’s long-term plans.
The decision was already communicated to the player’s entourage who are busy looking for interested clubs, mostly in Saudi Arabia.
However, Il Tempo reports that Smalling’s exit is proving more difficult to secure than the cub initially had anticipated.
According to the newspaper, there are no offers at the moment, and the rumours about Saudi Arabia have not yet materialised.
For Roma this is a serious problem as they need Smalling to leave before being able to sign any additional defender.
The favorite to take his place is Mats Hummels, but without Smalling’s departure Roma cannot make an official bid for the German veteran.
