Roma defender Chris Smalling is reportedly nearing the final stages of his recovery.
After missing the last five months of action with a chronic knee injury, Smalling is close to receiving his first call-up since September.
According to Il Tempo, the veteran centreback has been regularly involved in (partial) group training over recent days and could be called up on Saturday as Roma face Inter Milan at the Stadio Olimpico.
The newspaper claims that Daniele De Rossi’s intention is to have Smalling at full disposal for the return leg with Feyenoord in the Europa League playoffs.
