Roma defender Chris Smalling – who was named Man of the Match in the historic night at Tirana after a formidable performance to help gift the team a precious clean sheet – is expected to extend his stay in the Italian capital.

In fact, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Englishman wants to continue working with his José Mourinho.

General Manager Tiago Pinto has had repeated meetings with the centre-back’s entourage and all signs point to Smalling staying an additional year in Rome.

According to the Italian newspaper, the ex-Man United man will soon pen an extension until 2024.
