Roma defender Chris Smalling is reportedly edging closer to his long-awaited return to Jose Mourinho’s disposal.

The Englishman has been nursing a serious knee injury over recent months which forced him to miss almost 5 months of action. His last appearance for the Giallorossi dates back to September 1st.

According to Il Tempo. The situation may soon change as the veteran centreback could return to group training next week.

His recovery is still far from complete and Smalling will require an extensive period of time before being called up and seeing any significant playing time.
