Roma defender Chris Smalling is set to complete his recovery before Sunday’s fixture with Monza.
After missing over one month of action due to a case of chronic tendinitis, the English centreback returned to Mourinho’s disposal for the first time in yesterday’s group training session.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Smalling – along with Diego Llorente – will be called up for the match against Monza on Sunday afternoon but is unlikely to be utilized.
Instead, the player is aiming to make his first starting appearance since the defeat with Milan in a week from now when Roma will face Inter at San Siro stadium.
Smalling’s return to the Giallorossi’s starting eleven means Bryan Cristante will slot back into the midfield after filling in the defense for the past few weeks.
