Roma defender Chris Smalling helped the team maintain a crucial clean sheet against Gasperini’s Atalanta.
The English centre-back spoke to the club’s official channels after the final whistle and shared his thoughts on what ultimately made the difference in tonight’s 1-0 win.
“I think everybody could see the way we started the game and how we stayed aggressive throughout,” said Smalling.
“This game was almost worth six points. Everybody was fantastic tonight.”
When asked about his veteran status, Smalling replied “When you’re one of the more experienced guys, you have to remain calm in the crucial moments.”
“I love being part of this team,” the defender concluded. “I love it when I see my teammates run and fight like they did in those final minutes. It’s such a pleasure being part of it.”
