Chris Smalling continues to be a valuable resource for Jose Mourinho as the experienced veteran defender is once again among the team’s top performers in a campaign that saw Roma tighten its defense even further compared to last year.
The English centreback is now leading the team in most minutes played, reports Corriere della Sera, with a total of 1367 minutes in 16 games across all competitions so far. The ex-Manchester United man has also three league goals to his name.
Smalling has already topped his minutes total from 20/21 – the year in which he was plagued by persistent injuries – and is projected to replicate last season’s achievement of almost 3000 minutes (2902 minutes in 38 total appearances).
