Chris Smalling continues to make progress in his recovery from a chronic tendon injury.
The English defender has been sidelined for the past few weeks with his last appearance for the Giallorossi dating back to a month ago when Roma were defeated by Milan.
Jose Mourinho is eager to have him back and the player could be on the bench against Cagliari on Sunday, reports Corriere dello Sport.
However, his full recovery is expected to take place during the international break with Smalling ready to return to Roma’s line-up in Roma-Monza on 20 October.
