Roma defender Chris Smalling has been missing the start of September.
The English centreback continues to suffer from chronic pain in his knee which has been affecting him for the past several months.
After consulting with English surgeon Andy Williams in London, Smalling is expected to keep undergoing conservative physiotherapy at Roma’s training facilities.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the injury is so severe that the 34-year-old is unlikely to recover by the end of this international break.
Instead, Smalling is expected to remain out at least until the first week of December, if not more.
Jose Mourinho is very concerned with this situation as Roma face a complicated schedule upon their return from international duty.
