Chris Smalling to resume group training

Smalling’s preseason seemed like the brilliant start the Englishman needed after missing out on large parts of Roma’s 20/21 campaign. However, after the club’s last friendly at the Olimpico against Raja Casablanca earlier in August, the defender went down with another muscular injury.

According to Alessandro Austini of Il Tempo, following his absence in Roma’s first four official games, Smalling is ready to resume group training.

Starting from today, the player will slowly be reintegrated by Jose Mourinho and his staff.

The Portuguese technician counts on Smalling’s strength and experience, so much so that during preseason he preferred him over the current regularly starting Roger Ibanez.
