Chris Smalling remains out with an injury after missing the last three months because of chronic pain in his knee.
The injury – which has been affecting Smalling for the past several months – has forced him to undergo further consultations in London and fail to return to group training.
Roma – and Mourinho above all – are very concerned with this situation.
According to Il Tempo, Smalling’s return is entirely up to the defender.
In yesterday’s press conference, Mourinho touched upon the fact that the veteran centreback is extremely hesitant and insecure when it comes to pain tolerance.
Roma are hoping to have him back within the next month, but for the time being no prediction can be made regarding Smalling’s availability. This, in turn, could influence Roma’s plans for the January transfer window.
