Chris Smalling is back to square one in his recovery from a chronic injury which forced him to miss the last two months of action.
The Roma defender is not doing well and seems to be destined to remain out for a lengthy period of time.
Following his medical consultation in London, Il Messaggero reports that Smalling underwent further tests at Villa Stuart in Rome including an MRI which revealed acute chondropathy – disease of the cartilage – of the patellar tendon.
This, in turn, has forced Roma to further extend his plan for recovery and thus his long-awaited return to the pitch.
