Chris Smalling’s Roma contract automatically renewed until 2024

Chris Smalling has officially extended his stay in the Italian capital by another two years with his current contract set to expire in June 2024.

As reported in today’s edition with Corriere dello Sport, the English centreback reached his twentieth appearance of the season on Wednesday night with Sassuolo, which triggered an automatic clause in his previous contract.

Smalling’s exclusion from the World Cup by England’s coach Gareth Southgate will enable the veteran defender to join the Giallorossi in their upcoming trip to Japan at the end of the month.
