Former Roma defender Christian Panucci was asked about Luciano Spalletti’s success on Napoli’s bench early on in the season as well as Roma’s performance in their loss to the Partenopei at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday night.
“In some ways I always find Spalletti to be the same as when we worked together at Roma,” he told Radio CRC.
“He has ten more years of experience now and this is important for his side. Napoli play as well as Roma played when I was there. We didn’t win the Scudetto because there was a strong Inter as our main rival and we always came in second, but we always played wonderful football.”
“For Napoli, last night’s win could prove pivotal in their pursuit of the Scudetto. Roma played a great defensive game, then Osimhen scored a wonder goal, that’s how it goes sometimes. That’s how you also win games.”
