Former Roma defender Christian Panucci weighed in on the Giallorossi’s chances of qualifying for next year’s Champions League.
In an interview with SportMediaset, Panucci said, “Can Atalanta win the Europa League? They have to do it because Roma has to go to the Champions League. I would be very happy for De Rossi and for Atalanta it would be, if necessary, their first European triumph.”
“For this reason, the final will have a particular meaning and for once I believe that Roma fans will cheer for Atalanta.”
Sixth place will become a reality for Roma only in case Atalanta were to secure fifth place and win the Europa League trophy.
