Following Maurizio Sarri’s sudden departure, Lazio president Claudio Lotito discussed the club’s decision to appoint former Udinese, Verona, and Marseille manager Igor Tudor.
The Biancocelesti unveiled their new head coach following Sarri’s surprising decision to resign last week—ending his two-and-a-half year spell in the Italian capital.
“Our decision long ago, we tried our best to convince Sarri to stay when he suddenly resigned,” Lotito told Il Messaggero.
“The truth is that it bothers many that we managed resolve the [managerial] problem in 24-hours during the very first and only meeting.”
Adding, “I picked-up the phone, met with his [Tudor’s] agents, and received the appreciation of Tudor, who had rejected Napoli and Roma.”
