Former Roma manager Claudio Ranieri reflected on his career in the aftermath of his recent decision to retire.
The Italian technician who coached the Giallorossi on two separate occasions (2009-2011 and 2019), was asked about missing out on the Scudetto in his first spell in the Italian capital.
The veteran coach did not mince words and called it the biggest regret of his career.
“At first I only spoke Roman, then thanks to football I learned Spanish, English, French and Sardinian,” Ranieri recounted in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I said goodbye in the right way, it was a fantastic exit: not even in my dreams would I have imagined it so beautiful.”
When asked about career regrets, Ranieri did not hesitate.
“Not having won the scudetto with my Roma,” he said. “Today I can say it: I would have gladly exchanged it for Premier League title with Leicester.”
