Former Roma manager Claudio Ranieri – one of the most outspoken supporters of Jose Mourinho’s job in the Italian capital – discussed this year’s Serie A Scudetto race.
Among the various candidates for the league title, Ranieri listed Roma, maintaining that Mourinho can push his team mentally to do everything it takes.
“It’s impossible to predict the final winner with so much left to play,” Ranieri said at the Festival dello Sport. “Especially this year when for the first time ever we are confronted with a long mid-season break for the World Cup.”
“Milan and Napoli started well. Atalanta, who seemed to have changed a lot during the summer, are there at the top with all the others.”
“Inter and Juventus started with the handbrake on, but they are two teams that cannot be underestimated and won’t accept falling behind.”
“Additionally, there is Mourinho’s Roma – a team that will fight to the end. They will all play for the title, perhaps until the last matchday.”
