Ex-Roma manager Claudio Ranieri – now in charge his beloved Cagliari in Serie B – spoke ahead of tomorrow’s match with SPAL, where he will face one of his former players in Daniele De Rossi, now first time manager.
Ranieri discussed in his pre-game presser the relationship he shared with De Rossi during their years at the capital club as well his potential as a manager.
“He was an important player for Roma, for me, and I’m also sure he will become an important coach,” Ranieri told reporters earlier today. Ranieri was the coach with whom De Rossi concluded his remarkable time at Roma in 2019.
“Focusing on SPAL I can tell you that they have become much better since De Rossi’s appointment: they lead in individual duels won, they create a lot and make very few mistakes. With De Rossi in charge they have learned to play away from home.”
