Claudio Ranieri is on the verge of becoming the 15th coach in Roma’s history to manage over 100 games.

As recounted by Corriere della Sera, in 2009 Ranieri inherited from Spalletti a team that was bottom with zero points after 2 games, he made his debut by winning 2-1 in Siena in the 89th minute, he almost won the Scudetto.

In 2019 Di Francesco had left him in 5th place, he finished 6th.

This time he took over from Juric a Roma that was 12th and, with him on the bench, was overtaken by Parma, Cagliari and Genoa.

This time around, Ranieri got off to a slow start against some very tough opponents in Napoli, Tottenham and Atalanta, collecting two losses and one draw.

For 37 years a Giallorossi coach had not started with 2 defeats in Serie A: it had happened to Sormani in 1987 (his only 2 games without Eriksson) and to Liedholm in 1973.

The negative record should be avoided on Saturday against Lecce: because only Kertesz in 1942 with the Scudetto on his chest and Baloncieri in 1950 in the championship that ended with the only relegation suffered 3 defeats.
