Clement Grenier unveiled

John Solano

Newly acquired midfielder Clement Grenier was presented at Trigoria today, here are the words of the new Roma #7:

How was your first week in Rome?
It went very well. I was lucky enough to receive a wonderful welcome by everyone. I met my teammates and I’m happy to be here in Rome, where I have received the confidence of the club.

How have injuries slowed down your growth path?
In my career, I’ve had two serious injuries, injuries that deprived me the chance to play in the World Cup. But now that is the past. They have slowed my growth, but I have forged ahead with my character. For a year and a half everything has been fine, I hope not to have more injuries of this nature, but it’s true that I’ve grown from them.

Massara interrupts: “I have to thank Clement because he had many offers but really wanted to come here. Clement arrives on loan with an option to buy.”

Why didn’t you play more at Lyon?
It was because of my injuries influencing matters in the past plus there was a lot of competition in midfield and I was no longer in the plans of the manager when I returned. I continued to work hard to win an opportunity for myself. This has strengthened me temperamentally. I never fully understood what happened in Lyon and why I didn’t make it back into their plans. I have the desire to prove that Roma was right to focus in on me and that Lyon was wrong. Lyon will remain an important page in my career but I regret this final chapter.

Do you see yourself as a central midfielder? Who is better at free kicks between you and Pjanic?
I have already spoken to the Mister on my characteristics and what might be the most suitable role for me. I am versatile, I played all the roles of the midfield and I want to put my skills forwar to help the team. I like taking the free kicks, I was lucky enough to have a teacher like Juninho. The free kicks are a weapon that decides matches, but here there are great shooters like Totti.
