Roma manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly reached out to Spurs defender Eric Dier ahead of the January window.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Portuguese technician held several talks with Eric Dier over the last few weeks – the English centreback has been on the margins of Tottenham’s project and could leave in January.

The same news portal claims Dier is Mourinho’s first choice to strengthen Roma’s defense – his versatility to play as centreback, fullback and midfielder could come in handy to the Giallorossi as they face a busy schedule in the new year.

Roma are hoping to convince Spurs to let Dier leave on a free transfer given that his contract with Spurs is set to expire in June 2024.

Alternatively, Roma could sign him on loan with a long-term contract ready to be signed right after his temporary spell. Dier is said to be asking for a contract worth 3,5 years.
