RomaPress – The market of Roma continues to be very warm on several fronts, both outgoing and incoming. One of the names that has emerged over the last 72 hours as a potential reinforcement comes in the form of Shakhtar Donetsk striker Junior Moraes. The class of 1987 striker arrived at the Ukrainian side last summer on a free transfer and excelled as he scored 19 goals in 27 league matches under Paulo Fonseca. It’s true that the Portuguese boss of the Giallorossi would be interested in reuniting with the Brazilian in the Italian capital, which has led to Roma initiating talks for the player. RomaPress can confirm that earlier this week, there was contact between Roma and the agent of the striker, Daisy Brandino. Fonseca views Junior Moraes as a viable second option behind either Edin Dzeko, should be remain, or a name such as Gonzalo Higuain, who remains the jewel of Petrachi’s eye.
Moraes’ contract with Shakhtar expires in June 2020 and would present an opportunity for Roma to bring the player in at a low cost. However, it’s likely that Petrachi will wait to see how the situation with Dzeko evolves before any concrete proposals are made to Junior Moraes.
