Coppa Italia Derby to be played at night

Il Corriere dello Sport has reported that for the first time since 8 April 2013, the Derby della Capitale looks set to take place at night.

In the next hours, the official match time of Lazio-Roma will be announced for the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final on 1 March. Barring any plot twists, the match time will be 20.45 CET. The reason? The Coppa Italia is considered a separate event from Serie A league play, in which la Questura di Roma (Roman police) have always requested matches against Lazio and Napoli be played during the day due to fear of further violence at night. Yesterday, though, the Lega mapped out a complex strategy in order for the match to be played at night time. The issue now passes over to the Prefect and Interior Ministry, though, there has yet been no opposition to the time change.
