Costacurta announces B teams for next season

FIGC vice-commissioner Alessandro Costacurta spoke to the magazine Undici and announced the introduction of “B” teams for next season.

“Serie A clubs may ask to register their second team in Lega Pro (Serie C). The B teams will be composed of under-21 players, with the possibility of introducing two under-23 players. The second teams that Serie A clubs decide to register will play in Lega Pro and will occupy the spots of the clubs that do not register. The B teams must have a minimum number of players eligible for the Italian national team, which we are still defining. The teams will participate in the league as normal, they will be able to be promoted or relegated with one limitation: they will never play in the top tier.”
