For the second time this month, Roma were left humiliated by bottom of the table Cremonese.
The Grigiorossi followed-up their Coppa Italia elimination of Jose Mourinho’s side earlier this month with a 2-1 home victory, marking their first league win of the season.Â
The defeat marks a new low point for Roma this season just weeks after losing their cup match to Cremonese at home. To make matters worse, manager Jose Mourinho and assistant Salvatore Foti won’t be available for Sunday’s league clash against Juventus after the pair were sent off in the second half during today’s loss.Â
It was a performance filled with subpar performances but none more evident than captain Lorenzo Pellegrini. The midfielder struggled the entire match, wasting several goalscoring actions before mercifully being substituted off in the second half.
After taking an early first half lead thanks to an incredible goal from Frank Tsadjout, the hosts stymied Roma’s attack up until the final half an hour.Â
Down 1-0, Gianluca Mancini delivered a superb pass to Leonardo Spinazzola, who drew the Giallorossi level in the 71st minute.
However, Cremonese would earn a penalty just ten minutes later when Rui Patricio brought down David Okereke in the area.Â
Daniel Ciofani would score from the spot and seal the team’s first league win of the season, delivering yet another blow to Roma’s campaign.
